Lawyers and students have held a protest rally in Barishal to protest the brutal killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chattogram and demand a speedy trial.
The Anti-Terrorism General Lawyers and Barishal District Lawyers Association organized the program at 9:30 am yesterday in front of the main gate of the Barisal District and Sessions Judge Court Compound. Advocate Ali Haider Babul, Sufia Begum, Sadiqur Rahman Lingkon, Shahanur Khanam, Hafizur Rahman Bablu, and others spoke at the rally.
The speakers at the rally said that no conspiracy would be allowed to divide Hindus and Muslims and create riots and chaos. The unity among the people of the country cannot be destroyed by opening organizations in the name of ISKCON and Hindu Mahajote. I will tell the neighboring country, you should live in peace like you do, we should live in peace like us.
The speakers also said, "A heartfelt appeal to Hindu brothers: Do not create chaos in the conspiracy of any communal force. This country belongs to Hindus as much as it belongs to Muslims. Every citizen in this country has equal rights, and if someone commits a crime, he should be punished equally. A person should be sent to jail in court. Protesting against this, people should not be killed in the court premises. If the lower court does not grant bail, the district judge can go to the court, and if the lower court does not grant bail, the high court can also be reached. The reason why a lawyer was killed in many court premises is that the current situation is not fair. Lawyers have warned that they will go on strike if the situation is not resolved properly. Earlier, students of Barishal University also formed a human chain to protest the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif and demand the closure of ISKCON. On the other hand, students of Amrit Lal Dey College held a protest march and human chain in Barisal at 11 am on the same demand. They took a protest march from Amrit Lal Dey College to Sadar Road and formed a human chain.
At this time, the students said that the evil efforts to restore the fallen dictatorship and the anti-national conspiracy continued. That is why a lawyer was killed in the court premises of Chittagong due to ISKCON violence. Therefore, the demand to immediately ban ISKCON's activities is urgent.
