Rangpur city bus service started

Finally City Bus Service has been lauched in Rangpur. Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Md Moniruzzaman officially inaugurated it by launching two BRTC buses at CO Bazar of the city yesterday afternoon.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Menhazul BRTC Rangpur Depot Manager (Operations) Sultan, Rangpur City Corporation Councilor Mahmudur Rahman Titu, Additional Police Commissioners Saifuzzaman Faruqi and Uttam Kumar Paul, BRTA Rangpur Division Deputy Director Abdul Quddus, Joint General Secretary of Motor Owners Association Syed Aftab Uz Zaman Lipon, District and Divisional General Secretary of Motor Workers Union MA Majid and others were present then.

According to BRTC Rangpur depot sources, the city bus service will ply on the city's CO Bazar, Medical Junction, Bus Terminal, Shapla,Tajhat, and Satmatha routes. There will be ticket counters at these places and passengers will be transferred. Passengers will avail this service at a limited ticket price. City buses can seat 45 passengers. Also, half tickets for students and seats for disabled and brave freedom fighters will be reserved. Later the guests cut the ribbon and inaugurated the city bus service. This bus service has been launched as part of the initiative to decongest the city of Rangpur. The minimum fare for city bus service has been fixed at Tk 10. It was said that the number of buses will increase gradually.
