Aman harvesting and threshing of the current season is almost over in Naogaon. New rice has arrived in the market. But there was no relief in price. Compared to last week, all types of rice have increased by two rupees per kg this week.
It was known on the surface, the price of rice has increased in the retail market including the wholesale market of Naogaon city. The traders said that the rice market is on the rise, so the price of rice will increase in the coming days. A 50-kg bag of Swarna-5 variety of rice was sold at Tk 2 thousand 400, which was Tk 2 thousand 300 last week. Besides, pruned Kataribhog is being sold at Tk 3 thousand 300, which was sold at Tk 3 thousand150, last week.
In the retail market, Swarna-5 variety of rice is selling at Tk 50, Kataribhog 66, Jirasail 62, Nazirshail 52, Atish 58, Sugar-Atap Tk 135-140 per kg. Last week, all types of rice were sold Tk 2 less per kg than this.
General Secretary of District Rice Owners Group Farhad Hossain Chakdar said that currently the supply of paddy in the market has decreased. Farmers think that the price of paddy may increase after the polls. So they are not bringing paddy to market. All types of rice have increased by Tk100 per maund. If the price of paddy increases, it the price of rice will increase.
