Road blockade by students in Tangail

The students blocked the Mymensingh-Tangail highway and protested to demand the appointment of principal in Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College. The students expressed anger as the post of principal was lying vacant for a long time and demanded immediate appointment of a permanent principal. They blocked the highway in front of Bagutia bus stand for two hours yesterday. With banners and festoons in their hands, they chanted slogans several times and made the whole area resound.

Later, the local administration and police reached the spot to bring the situation under control and discussed with the students and normalized the traffic. At 1:30 PM after the blockade, Kalihati Upazila Administration Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Sifat Bin Sadek and Kalihati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam held a meeting with a 10-member delegation of students. In the meeting, the demands of the students were taken seriously and the appointment of the principal was promised.
