A bridge has been constructed across the Talbari canal in Karuna village of Mokamiya union of Betagi upazila of Barguna. Ironically subject, the connecting road has not been built on both sides of the bridge. Due to the unplanned construction of the bridge, the local people are facing the same suffering as before. It can be seen on the surface, that there is no road on either side to climb the bridge built on the Talbari canal.

According to Upazila Project Implementation Office sources, the 13-meter-long bridge was constructed at a cost of Tk 84 lakh 95 thousand 149 under the bridge-culvert program of the Directorate of Disaster Management for the transportation of goods and people in the financial year 2021-22. M/s Shah Nawaz Salim, Barguna's Parir Canal contractor, received the work order on March 15, 2022. Although the deadline for completion of the work is September 12 of the same year, so far the road has not been constructed on both sides of the bridge. The project was handed over without connecting roads on both sides of the bridge. As a result, the bridge is not useful for the movement of people.

Betagi Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) GM Oliul Islam said that the soil filling work will be completed soon on a priority basis for connecting road makes.

Betagi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farooq Ahmad said, that considering the suffering of the people, the issue of soil filling will be looked at seriously to connect the road with the bridge.
