Round table meeting on public safety

A round table meeting on public safety was held in Thakurgaon with the participation of representatives of various political parties, students, teachers and journalists. The meeting was held yesterday on the initiative of Multi Party Advocacy Forum Thakurgaon and with the support of Democracy International. General Secretary of Multi Party Advocacy Forum Thakurgaon Mahabub Hossain Tuhin presided.

Paygam Ali, Joint Treasurer of District BNP and Senior Fellow of Democracy International, Associate Professor of Thakurgaon Government College Mahmud Hasan participated in the meeting as panel guests. Md Ali Izad, senior regional manager of Democracy International Rangpur Region, delivered the welcome address at the function moderated by Multi Party Advocacy Forum Thakurgaon Office Secretary Zahidur Rahman Zahid.

He said in his welcome speech that one of the basic rights of people is to live with security and dignity. If the law and order situation deteriorates or anarchy increases, the rights of people are undermined. As people become helpless, lives and property are at risk. Therefore, it is important to ensure public safety first. However, the main responsibility of the police is to maintain law and order. It is not possible to handle everything in the case of police force alone. So the conscious people should also come forward.

During this time, the negotiators highlighted their recent experiences and problems related to public safety and gave various recommendations to ensure public safety.
