Monica Chakma, the winner of the SAFF Women's Championship, was accorded a reception by Laxmichhari Zone at the initiative of Guimara Region yesterday.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Tajul Islam, psc, Zone Commander of Laxmichhari Zone of Guimara Region, handed over Tk 50,000 to Monica Chakma, the winner of the SAFF Women's Championship-2024.
Monica Chakma's father Bindu Chakma, her brother-in-law and uncle were also given some courtesy awards. Other military officials of Lakshmichhari zone were present on the occasion.
Monica Chakma expressed her gratitude to the Bangladesh Army for this initiative of Laxmichhari Zone and said the reception was a manifestation of Bangladesh Army's unwavering support to women's football.
Laxmichhari Zone Commander Lt Col Md Tajul Islam said, "Monica Chakma has proved that the girls of the Chittagong Hill Tracts can bring honor to the country if they try. He urged the locals to develop such talented players in the future. He also said Bangladesh Army will continue such support for the development of women sports in future."
