In Chilmari of Kurigram, Char Shakhahati No 1 Government Primary School was destroyed by the erosion of the Brahmaputra in recent floods.
Later, the school was moved to another place and a place was determined by the local and related officials, but a local Awami League leader's influence and power showed that the school was moved to another place. As a result, the activities of the school have come to a standstill for the last four months due to disagreements between the two parties.
It has been reported that in June of this year, due to the severe breach of Brahmaputra River, Char Shakhahati No 1 Government Primary School is under threat along with three tin set houses. The school was moved to RDRS village in the side branch on the direction of the Upazila Primary Education Office.

According to local sources, Chilmari Union Awami League President and former Union Parishad UP Chairman Gauchal Haque, his brother Zahurul Islam (Union Awami League Leader) and Union Awami League Organizing Secretary Moshiur Rahman are conspiring to move the school to their preferred location.
Due to this, complications have arisen in determining the new location of the school. Union Awami League president Gauchal Haque has been exerting political influence for 30 years. He has been making the SMC committee the president himself and sometimes his wife as the president and has been bringing various opportunities including money allocated in the name of the school.
Chilmari Union BNP Ward No 5 president Suja Mia said, UNO, TO, ATO sirs were coming, they have determined the place, we have put soil on the land accordingly, it has cost about Tk 2 lakh. We want the school to be in Shakhahati. If not, it will be difficult for students to go to school elsewhere. Regarding the school, Chilmari Union Awami League president and former UP chairman Gouchal Haque, his brother Zahurul Islam and Moshiur Rahman are working together to take the school to their area.
Many students including Junaid, Bayezid, Rubel said that we do not go to school because the school is too far.
In this regard, Chilmari Union Awami League president and former UP chairman Goychal Haque Mandal denied the allegations of corruption and said, "I am not involved here." Locals know best.
UP Chairman of Chilmari Union Parishad Aminul Islam said, I have repeatedly told UNO sir that they have come. But I don't know why they couldn't decide. If this continues, the education of boys and girls will be disrupted.
Mst Sahida Begum, head teacher of Government Primary School No 1, Char Branch, said that classes are currently being held in a small madrasa. Students are coming a little less now, TO Sir has been asked to determine the school.
Upazila Primary Education Officer (TO Acting) Zahidur Rahman said, we are in a lot of trouble as the people of the area want schools in two places and the problem will be solved by talking to the UNO sir. I will tell the locals that it is better if both sides sit down and resolve it. If the school runs like this, students' reading may be disrupted.
