A student named Liza (15) committed suicide by hanging herself at Tala in Satkhira. She was a class 10 student of Mohandi Pragati Secondary School and daughter of Hannan Morol of the same village.
The incident took place at Mahandi village of the upazila yesterday morning.
Locals said Liza's mother went to fetch water from tubewell near the house in the morning. She was not at home then. When she returned home with water, she found the fan hanging from the ceiling. Hearing her screams, the neighbours got down from the fan and she died on the way to Tala Hospital for treatment. The cause of death has not been ascertained.
Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam confirmed the death.
