Shops and houses burnt to ashes

In a fire in Banibah Bazar of Rajbari Sadar Upazila, goods worth half a crore of taka including shops and houses of 5 families were burnt. Yesterday around 2.30 am, the fire started from an electrical short circuit, which Liton Kumar Das, Shyamal Kumar Das, Kamal Kumar Das, Parimal Kumar Das' homestead and Kamal Kumar Das's grocery store and Rafiq's shoe store were burnt down. The injured Liton Kumar Das said, “Our 3 houses, shops, TV, fridge, gold ornaments and other goods including cash were burnt due to electrical short circuit. It has caused a loss of around half a crore.”

On receiving the information about the fire, personnel of Rajbari and Baliakandi fire service stations quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control. President of Banibah Bazar Business Council, Morshed Alam said, "The fire destroyed everything of the family and also caused extensive damage to the shoe store. However, the quick action of the fire service personnel prevented further damage."

Deputy Assistant Director of Rajbari Fire Service and Civil Defense Unit Md Zakir Hossain said, "Due to our action, other shops in the market were saved.
