He started planting trees at the age of 12 and continues to do so even at the age of 82. Sirajul Islam Hawladar has been planting trees for 70 years in Galachipa, Patuakhali. His relationship with the tree is about six ages. Therefore, he is known as a tree lover among the locals.
Sirajul said that during this period, he planted more than 50,000 trees on government land with his own money. He takes care of the seedlings of these trees in his nursery. If it is suitable to plant, the village plants it in the yard, on the public road. This tree lover's house is in East Atkhali village of Dakua Union of Upazila. Not only in his village, he has planted various species of trees in at least 10 surrounding villages.
Dakua village is about 40 km south of Patuakhali town. Sirajul lives in a tin shed house in that village.
Local UP chairman Biswajit Roy said Sirajul Islam Howladar's habit of planting trees impressed me. His work deserves praise. He changed the appearance of the village by planting trees.
