Six injured in bus-CNG head-on collision

Six people injured in head-on collision between bus and CNG in Lakshmipur. 3 passengers including the CNG driver were seriously injured. The incident took place at Ratanpur area of Mandari on the Lakshmipur-Noakhali regional highway yesterday afternoon. The injured were Noor Nabi and her daughter-in-law Sweety Akter of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila.

Hosneyara, Shafayat Hossain and CNG driver Abdur Rahman and his brother Abdus Shahid. The eyewitnesses said that the Star Line bus leaving from Feni collided head-on with the CNGT from Lakshmipur to Chandraganj. 6 people including the CNG driver were injured. Later, the injured were rescued and sent to Sadar Hospital. He also said that CNGT, the victim of the accident, tried to over-trek an Anand bus standing at the spot. Then there was a head-on collision with the Star Line bus coming from the opposite direction.

Locals detained the bus in this incident. Later the police came and took the bus away.  Dr. Arup Pal, resident medical officer of Laxmipur Sadar Hospital, said that the injured in the road accident have been treated. However, as the condition of 3 people is critical, they have been sent to Dhaka Medical for better treatment. In this regard, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Highway Police Station Md. Ruhul Amin said that the bus driver has been arrested and the Star Line bus has been seized in connection with the collision between the bus and CNG.
