Six police closed in Godagari

 

Six policemen of Rajshahi's Godagari Model Police Station have been closed on charges of drug involvement and trade. On the orders of the District Superintendent of Police, 5 dargahs and one constable were closed yesterday and attached to the police line.

The closed policemen are SI Akramuzzaman, SI Satyabrata, ASI Abdul Karim, ASI Manjurul Islam, ASI Ranju, and Constable Mahbub.

According to a police source, police Saifur Rahman visited the Godagari Model Police Station last Sunday afternoon and was informed about the crimes of the policemen who were closed. Then went back and ordered the withdrawal of 6 policemen.

Godagari model officer in charge (OC) Abdul Matin said, 6 policemen were closed from the police station in the night. According to a source in the police, there were complaints against six closed policemen to the Superintendent of Police for extorting bribes from drug dealers.

It was known that last Sunday morning, SI Akramuzzaman arrested a drug dealer named Abdus Samad, son of Badeful Islam of Kodalkati village of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, and released him with Tk 3 lakh. Abdus Samad has an arrest warrant at Godagari police station.

Earlier, 4 policemen of the Godagari Model Police Prematali Investigation Center were recalled and brought to the police line on the charge of arresting the businessman's son under the identity of DB Police. They are SI Md Rezaul Karim, ASI Md Anwarul Islam, Constable Md Rezaul Karim, and Milan Hossain of Prematli Police Investigation Center.
