Students in fear of losing eyes

A student of the fourth class named Maidul Hasan (10) has lost his sight due to the whipping of the assistant teacher Tapas Majumdar of the Daganbhuna municipal area of ​​Feni.

They said that on May 14, teacher Tapas Majumder beat Maidul with a bamboo stick for making a mistake in the class. Meanwhile, he hit Maidul's right eye with a cane. It penetrated into the eye. When Kanchi is extracted, his eyes bleed. Maidul was first taken to Islamia Eye Hospital in Daganbhuiyan. After the first treatment there, he was taken to Chittagong Pahartali Eye Hospital. In that eye hospital, the lens was removed from the eye. Then after one and a half months of treatment at Dhaka Institute of Ophthalmology, he was taken to Shankar Eye Clinic in Chennai, India. However, his eyesight could not be restored. But now the problem is appearing in the left eye as well as the right eye.

After 4 months of the incident, the child's family held a press conference in a hall room in Feni city on yesterday as no action was taken against the accused teacher and the fear of losing the other eye of the child.

Muidul's father Rayazul Haque said, "I am an expatriate. My only son is currently on the brink of being blind. The teacher involved in the torture of my child, Tapas Majumder, has accepted responsibility, but his elder brother Rajes Majumder has been threatening us continuously.

Daganbhuna Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nibedita Chakma said, 'We conducted an on-site investigation immediately after receiving the complaint. The investigation found the allegations to be true. Departmental action has been recommended against the accused teacher.

The accused teacher Tapas Majumdar’s mobile was contacted to inquire about the incident, but the phone was found switched off.

Feni District Primary Education Officer Nasir Uddin Ahmed has confirmed that a departmental case has been filed against the accused teacher as the investigation by the local upazila administration and primary education office has proved the incident. He said, "After the incident, the victim's family complained to us. After that, we formed an investigation committee." According to the report of the investigation committee, a departmental case has already been filed against the teacher.
