The route of Sundarban and Benapole Express trains is not changing for now. The train will run through two Rajbari stations. New Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia gave this information in an exchange meeting with journalists in the conference room of his office yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said, "After I joined Rajbari district, I came to know that the people of this district are agitating to cancel the decision to change the route of Sundarban and Benapole Express trains and move them through Rajbari station. I spoke to the Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway Sardar Shahadat Ali about the matter. I explained to him the political situation here and the needs of the people. I said, since this train facility has been introduced on this route. People are used to the convenience of this train, people are enjoying this convenience. How are these trains being stopped without providing similar alternative facilities? He promised me that for now they will not stop these two trains. Of course they will plan to change the train route by arranging alternative facilities.
It is to be noted that on Saturday at around 8:15 PM, ordinary people protested by stopping the "Rajbari Express" train bound for Faridpur at Rajbari railway station.
With the same demand, Chatra Dal leaders and activists protested by blocking the Dhaka-bound 'Madhumati Express' from Rajshahi and the Khulna-bound 'Sunderban Express' from Dhaka at Rajbari railway station on Sunday morning.
Apart from this, a human chain was formed at Rajbari railway station under the banner of the people of all levels of the district yesterday morning. The protestors said that the Dhaka-bound 'Sunderban Express' departing from Khulna and the Dhaka-bound 'Benapole Express' departing from Benapole will run on different routes from November 15. They know the news that will do. If the train route is changed, the people of Rajbari and surrounding districts will be deprived of railway services. Due to which they demand cancellation of the decision to change the route of Sundarban and Benapole Express trains and to run through Rajbari station.
Rajbari Railway Stationmaster Tanmoy Kumar Dutta said, "We have not yet received any instructions regarding the decision to change the route of the Sundarban and Benapole Express trains. We have not received any written or verbal communication from the Ministry of Railways.
In November 2023, two trains named Benapole and Sundarban Express started running over Rajbari. In this, the people of several districts including Rajbari have the opportunity to travel to Dhaka in a short period of time.
