Tk 2 cr goods seized in border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian sarees, three-pieces, lehengas, dhuti and than cloths worth about Tk 2 crore from Kanaighat border in Sylhet.

BGB seized these goods in a raid at a place called Chotul Eidgah Bazar on the border of Kanaighat upazila at around 6 am yesterday.

A special patrol team of Surighat BOP under Jokiganj Battalion (19 BGB) of BGB conducted an anti-smuggling operation at Chotul Eidgah Bazar on Kanaighat border on the basis of secret information last Tuesday.

When a truck full of sand was passing through the area described in the raid, the BGB patrol challenged the truck and stopped it suspiciously. At that time, the BGB patrol searched the truck and recovered a large amount of Indian sarees, three pieces, lehengas, dhuti cloth, than cloth and miscellaneous goods hidden under the layer of sand. The estimated market value of recovered goods is around Tk 2 crore. The process of submitting the seized goods to the Tamabil Customs Office is under process.
