In Gurudaspur upazila of Natore, a mobile court conducted an operation against 9 illegal brick kilns set up on agricultural land.
The operation, conducted under government orders from 10 AM to 3 PM yesterday, imposed a total fine of Tk 28 lakh on the illegal brick kilns.
The mobile court was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Salma Akter, who stated, "The brick kilns were set up on agricultural land, disrupting agricultural production and damaging the environment. As per the Brick Kiln Control Act, action was taken. Additionally, instructions were given to remove the brick kilns from agricultural land as soon as possible. The owners of the kilns have been advised to explore alternative employment options."
The operation also involved officials from the Department of Environment, led by Inspector Mohammad Borhan Uddin and Assistant Director Mohammad Rofiqul Islam, as well as Captain Mohammad Arfat Rahman from the Army, and Sub-Inspector Mohammad Masud Rana from Gurudaspur Police Station.
The Upazila administration has stated that such operations will continue to protect the environment and ensure agricultural production.
