Turag commuter train’s engine derailed in Joydebpur of Gazipur. But, there was no disruption in train movement with Dhaka. Salvage of the engine was also completed. The engine derailed while removing the engine from the train at Joydevpur railway junction area yesterday at around 8 am. As there are multiple lines in the junction area, the movement of other trains is not disturbed.

The station master of the junction, Md Hanif Ali said that in the morning the train came to Gazipur with passengers from Dhaka. Later, the engine derailed at Joydebpur Junction area, while opening the engine to run the train again towards Dhaka from Joydebpur Junction. The accident took place around 8 am on Wednesday while changing the engine without signaling.

Hanif Ali said, after that the train could not go to Dhaka. As a result, passengers waiting to go to Dhaka were transferred to another train. The rescue of the engine was completed around 11 pm. There were no casualties.

Earlier, a coach of an oil train derailed near Mantala station on Dhaka-Sylhet railway line at 11 am on December 24 of the outgoing year. However, there were no casualties in the accident. Before that, on December 13, around 4:30 am, seven coaches of Dhaka-bound 'Mohanganj Express' train derailed along with its engine. The accident occurred when the blockade supporters cut the railway line. One person was killed in this incident.

Besides, on the way from Tejgaon station in the capital to Kamalapur, the coach of the Titas commuter train derailed on the way to Kamalapur on the way to Dhaka Elevated Expressway at around 5 pm on December 7.

 And, on October 23 around 3:30 pm, a freight train bound for Chittagong from Dhaka collided with the Egarosindhur twilight train leaving Kishoreganj. The bodies of 17 people were recovered then. The accident took place, when the container train entered the station disobeying the signal.
