Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 arrested two persons with 50 kg weed during a raid on Dhaka-Chattogram highway under Sitakunda police station in Chattogram. A pickup used to transport drugs was seized. They were arrested from Faujdarhat area on Saturday night. The arrestees were identified as Md Iqbal Hossain, 19, and Md Imran Hossain, 24.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director Tapas Karmakar said that a temporary check post was set up on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and the vehicle was searched on the basis of a tip-off that they were coming to Chattogram from Feni for the purpose of selling drugs in a pickup. Md Iqbal Hossain and Md Imran Hossain were arrested while trying to flee at a high speed without stopping the pickup. During this time, 50 kg of weed was recovered from inside two plastic bags hidden behind the pickup. The pickup used to transport drugs has been seized. The eight have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
