Two policemen suspended for taking bribe

A video of a policeman taking bribe in Madaripur has gone viral on social media. Two policemen have been temporarily suspended as the bribe was initially proved.

Constables Tanzila and Shahidul Islam took Tk 14 lakh as bribe from Ratan Das, son of Rabidas of Mostafapur village in Madaripur Sadar upazila, promising to give him a job as constable. On the contrary, Tanzila gave a bulk cheaque to Ratan. But as Ratan did not get a job as a constable, he later demanded the money back from Tanzila and Shahidul. But instead of returning the money, they threatened Ratan in various ways. As a result, Ratan was forced to complain to the Madaripur Superintendent of Police.

In a video that went viral on social media, policeman Tanzila Akhter was seen taking a few bundles of Tk 1,000 from a shop. It is learned that the shop is in front of the Madaripur Deputy Commissioner's office. Money was traded in that shop.

Madaripur SP Md Masud Alam said in a press note that constables Tanzila Akhter and Shahidul Islam were temporarily suspended on May 9 after it was initially found true that they took bribe from one named Ratan.
