Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two Bangladeshi women from Akhaura border area of Brahmanbaria district on Sunday night for illegally entering India.
They were arrested from border pillar 2022/9 S Abdullahpur area under Fakirmora BUP of the upazila on Thursday night.
This information was given in a press release sent from Sarail Battalion 25 BGB yesterday morning. The arrestees were identified as Sonia Akhter (30), daughter of Habibur Rahman of Hoogla Bunia union of Nazirpur upazila in Pirojpur and Swapna Begum (30), daughter of Delwar Hossain of Zero Point area in Sadar upazila of Khulna.
According to the release, the two women entered Agartala inside India for work three months ago. Later, on November 21, with the help of Indian human trafficker Rahul Das of Lanka Mora, Bangladeshi human trafficker Md. Saimun of Abdullahpur was arrested by a patrol team of Fakirmora BOP while entering Bangladesh from India in exchange for Tk 5,000.
Two mobile phones, four bags, two watches, two pairs of gold earrings, a gold ring, a gold chain were recovered from their possessions. A case was filed with Akhaura Police Station along with the belongings of the detained illegal intruders.
Lieutenant Colonel Farah Mohammad Imtiaz, commander of BGB-25, said the Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) is committed to prevent any intruder from crossing the border illegally and their drive will continue.
