Unstable Egg Market in Naogaon

In the market, farm chicken red eggs are being sold at 15 rupees per piece. And a dozen of eggs are being sold at Tk 170-175. Even if the buyers are angry and dissatisfied with the price, the sellers do not care. When you raise a question about the price, they say, "If you take it, take it, if you don't take it, walk ahead."

Kitchen market in the area adjacent to Dhamirhat road of Najipur town bus stand in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon and talking to buyers and sellers can be seen yesterday.

Market people say that the government officials sitting in the office have fixed a price, which has no match with the reality. They claim that the price of chicken feed is high in the country's market. Moreover, the production of eggs in the farm has also decreased due to excessive heat. Due to this the supply in the market has decreased. And due to reduced supply, the price of eggs has increased. However, the counter question of the consumers who come to the market is that even if the price of each piece of eggs imported from the neighboring country India is 7 taka including the import cost, why will the eggs produced in Bangladesh be 14/15 taka per piece?

It has been found that brown eggs are being sold at Tk170 per dozen in the market, which is about Tk 28 more than the price fixed by the government. And if someone comes to buy as a piece (less than a dozen), then the price per piece is Tk15, which comes to Tk180 as a dozen. On the other hand, a dozen of farm chicken white eggs are being sold at Tk 170 in most markets; In some places, however, Tk 5 are available. A dozen of white eggs were Tk155 to 160 in the market last week. That is, the price of eggs increased by Tk10 per dozen within a week. The price of domestic chicken eggs is about Tk 70 per egg.

Talking to the consumers, it is known that there is a lot of anger among the consumers regarding the price of eggs. They claim that a strong syndicate is still working in the egg market. Despite the fall of Awami League, the current government is unable to control the market.

Rubel Hossain, an egg buyer in the market, said that the government had fixed the price of eggs long ago. Where the price set by the government is supposed to be Tk 10/11 per piece, it is currently being sold at Tk 15. I bought one egg for Tk 60.

Conscious citizens including buyers demand that market monitoring and mobile courts should be increased by regular administration.
