Meherpur District Jail is now full of sleeping pills Disopan-2, heroin, and other drugs. These drugs are available only if you give money. In exchange for money, some prison guards are giving various drugs including sleeping pills to the prisoners. This disopan-to is known as 'Dichu' in prison. 10 pieces of Disopan-2 are priced at Tk 120-Tk130, but it is being sold for Tk 1,500 to Tk 2,000 inside the prisons. Some unscrupulous prison guards are making huge sums of money by supplying sleeping pills, weed, and heroin. The investigation revealed that not only Disopan-2, heroin, and weed are being exchanged for money. In addition, the amount of food is less and healthy prisoners are kept instead of sick prisoners in the prison medical. Several released convicts, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that a few prison guards have a powerful syndicate controlling the prison-based drug trade. In exchange for money, some unscrupulous prison guards contact inmates' families and deliver heroin and sleeping pills to inmates. Tk1500 to Tk2000 received from the families of the prisoners to deliver this drug.
Associate Professor of Jashore Army Medical College, Dr. Mahfuzul Haque Sarkar, said about Disopan-2, they are taking it as an alternative to addiction. Long-term use without a doctor's advice can be life-threatening. Stating that the sale of this drug without a license is a crime, he said that it is important for the authorities to monitor this matter. Aman Ullah was contacted to find out about this, he said that if someone has done something without our knowledge, it is our responsibility to take appropriate action. We are aware of this. We want them to be completely eradicated. Anyone who commits such wrongdoing will be punished.
