Husband Farooq (34) has been accused of killing his wife Taniya Begum (36) for drug money in Brahmanbaria. Police recovered Tanyia's body from the bathroom of a rented house in Puniaut (Hasinabagh) area of the municipal area yesterday at 10 am. Soon after the incident, the husband Farooq ran away. The deceased was the daughter of Rafiqul Islam Chotan Mia of village Kathalkandi of Chatalpar union of Nasirnagar upazila of Taniya Begum district and the son of Shah Alam Mia of Khadera village of Kasba upazila of Farooq district.
Taniya got married to Farooq on January 10, 2023. This is Tania and Farooq's second marriage. Taniya has 2 sons and 1 daughter in her previous marriage.
According to the police, Farooq and Tanyia started living as tenants in a house in Puniaut (Hasinabagh) area of municipal area after marriage. Farooq is a drug addict. Tanya used to work as a maid in different houses. For drug money, Farooq often beat his wife and destroyed household items.
Farooq beats up Tanya for drug money on Thursday night. Later in the morning Farooq strangled her with a towel around her neck and left the body in the bathroom. On receiving the information, the police recovered Tania's body around 10 am on Friday morning and sent the body to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Aslam Hossain said, We are trying to arrest Farooq. Preparations are underway to file a case at the police station. Tania's body has been sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
