Golam Sharif Chowdhury Pipul was elected informally in the post of Chairman in Noakhali Companyiganj Upazila Parishad election. He got 48,201 votes in the election. His nearest rival candidate Mizanur Rahman Badal got 18,878 votes for Dowat kalam symbol. Shahadat Hossain, younger brother of the minister Obaidul Quader got 4610 votes with the telephone symbol.
Md. Jasim Uddin Babar won the vice -chairman with Chosma symbol with 51,313 votes. His nearest rival, Mamun Hossain, got 20,278 votes with Tala symbol. Parveen Akhter won the post of female vice -chairman with football symbol 53,632 votes. Her rival candidate Fatima Begum got 18,555 votes with Projapoti symbol.
The total of votes are 2,26,223 and 75,237 votes were collected. The number of void votes were 2066. The total number of valid votes were 73,171. Assistant Returning officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Anwar Hossain Patwari announced the results in the presence of media personnel in the Upazila Election Control Room.
Obaidul Quader's younger brother Shahadat Hossain, who denied the announcement of the Election Commission, and said that all my agents were forced to leave the polling room and center and Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza’s terrorist group were sealing pineapple symbols in the centers. Although I immediately announced the boycott of the election, the election concerned did not take any action and declared my opponent the winner in the end. I demand to the administration for re-election. The other candidate, Upazila Awami League general secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal, said that the people of Quader Mirza did not allow my agents to enter the polling stations. They have collected unilateral votes. General voters did not expect such votes in the area of Minister Obaidul Quader.
The winning candidate Golam Sharif Chowdhury Pipul said, "This victory is not just mine, but this victory is of the resident of the companyganj people." I would like to say to my brothers and stuff to not to engage in any confrontation with any opponent personnel. We will work together to make the companyiganj as a role model.
