In Ghatail, Tangail, an upazila-based Word Master Competition, discussion meeting, award distribution and certificate presentation ceremony was held to remove fear in English education and make students more confident by increasing language skills.
Good Neighbors Bangladesh Ghatail CDP organized the event at the Upazila Parishad Hall yesterday morning.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst Sharmin Akhter spoke as the chief guest. Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shafiqul Islam presided over the event and Good Neighbors Bangladesh Ghatail CDP Manager Sharmin Nasrin delivered the welcome speech.
Academic Supervisor Fakrul Islam, Teacher Azharul Islam, Teachers Khandaker Tahazzad Hossain, Mohammad Hasan Ali, Kamal Hossain and about 60 headmasters of various educational institutions of the upazila were present as special guests. Journalists from various print and electronic media were also present.
In the said Word Master competition, 123 students from 41 high schools of the upazila participated in the competition. Five students were declared winners in this competition and awards and certificates were given at the end of the ceremony.
The speakers said that the new generation should be educated. English skills should be improved to face the challenges of the new world. Such competitions help in strengthening the students' learning attitude and improving their skills. Which will help in developing the new generation as global citizens.
