Zamir succeeded with Fauomi Chicken farming

Hard work has no substitute for self-reliance—a truth proven by Zamir Uddin, a college student from Sreemangal. Through his Fauomi chicken farm is in Khoshbas village of Ashidron Union, Moulvibazar, Zamir has achieved notable success.

Zamir Uddin is a second-year Honor’s student at Moulvibazar Government College and a Fazil student at Anwarul Uloom Fazil Degree Madrasa in Sreemangal. Alongside his studies, he has established a Fauomi chicken farm, which not only made him self-reliant but also created employment opportunities for others in the area. Inspired by his initiative, many locals are now keen to pursue entrepreneurship.

Driven by a desire to create something of his own rather than seeking employment, Zamir began his journey by setting up a small grocery shop to support his family and education expenses. However, he aspired to do more.

In late 2023, Zamir took a bold step by renting land and starting "Latifiya Fauomi Farm" with 2,100 Fauomi chicken chicks. The farm, located in Khoshbas village of Ashidron Union, grew rapidly under his dedicated efforts. Today, the farm houses around 3,500 Fauomi chickens.

According to the Sreemangal Upazila Livestock Office, there are 917 livestock and poultry farms in the area. Among them are 182 broiler chicken farms, 15 Sonali chicken farms, 26 layer chicken farms, and Zamir’s farm—the only one raising Egyptian Fauomi chickens.

Zamir expressed his motivation, saying, "I always wanted to do something independently alongside my studies. I disliked the idea of working under others, so I decided to start a Fauomi chicken farm. It wasn’t easy, as it required significant investment, but I didn’t lose hope. With loans and determination, I built the farm, and by Allah’s grace, it’s thriving."

He further added, "It’s a joy to contribute to the nation rather than being a burden."

Dr Sabina Yasmin, Acting Livestock Officer of Sreemangal Upazila, praised the initiative, saying, "We are delighted by the success of Latifiya Fauomi Farm. We encourage unemployed youths to follow Zamir Uddin's example and become entrepreneurs. People from distant places are now visiting him for advice."
