Golden Jute Mill bankrupt for loan default

- Tk 300 crore bank default calculated

- Total defaulted amount of loan is Tk 355 cr 6 lakh 2K 968

'MH Golden Jute Mill' owned by Anontex Group of Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur has gone bankrupt due to default of Tk 300 crore. Janata Bank's Dhaka Corporate Branch invited tenders by placing an auction notice in the newspaper. According to the notification, last Friday at the corporate branch of Janata Bank, the deadline for submitting tenders is 3 pm. According to the auction advertisement, the amount of defaulted loan is Tk 355 crore 6 lakh 2 thousand 968.

Meanwhile, allegations have been raised that the mill authorities have bankrupted the mill after looting the bank's money. Meanwhile, the loan information of Golden Jutmill wasn’t found in the local Janata Bank branches of Faridpur or Boalmari.

According to sources and local sources, the bankrupt Jutmill's father-in-law's house, the then chairman of Janata Bank, economist Dr Abul Barakat, is in Cholna village of Boalmari town headquarters in Faridpur. Due to the good relationship of Yunus Badal, managing director of Anontex Group with Dr Abul Barakat, a loan of Tk 300 crore was granted from Janata Bank Corporate Branch Dhaka. Mizanur Rahman, elder brother of Dr Abul Barakat's wife Shahida Parvin, has been serving as the executive director of Golden Jute Mill since the establishment of the mill. And Mizanur Rahman's elder son Mohsin Hossain alias Guddu was the director. Next to Golden Jute Mill they (managers) set up 'Bonanza' Jute Mill which is also being run by the officials of the bankrupt mill. It is learned that the "MH Golden Jute Mill" mill was established in the year 2010 on about 16 acres of land in Kalaran area at the end of Boalmari Municipality of the district. Production at the mill began in early 2012.

At that time Janata Bank chairman economist Dr Abul Barakat's in-laws were in charge of managing the mill, but the mill was owned by Anontex Group of Dhaka. A loan of Tk 300 crore was granted from Janata Bank Corporate Branch Dhaka in the name of Yunus Badal, Managing Director of Anontex Group. Yunus Badal was known as a close associate of Dr Abul Barakat. The mill authorities have not paid any installments to the bank since the start of production of the mill. Currently Yunus Badal and his brother Yusuf Badal have fled to Germany, a source said. Although Golden Jute Mill was established through the Anontex Group, the mill was managed by relatives of Dr Abul Barakat's father-in-law. Dr Abul Barakat married Shahida Parveen, daughter of Mokadesh Hossain of Cholna village of Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district. Shahida Parveen's elder brother Md Mizanur Rahman served as the Executive Director (ED) of Golden Jute Mills. Mizanur Rahman's elder son Mohsin Hossain Guddu was in charge as director. The mill is being run by the management of MH Golden Jute Mill by setting up a company called Bonanza Jute Mill next to the bankrupt MH Golden Jute Mill. And Golden Jutmill is almost abandoned.

Allegations have been made that all the machinery of MH Golden Jute Mill has been opened and set in 'Bonanza Jute Mill' which is supposed to be mentioned in the documents of the machinery along with the establishment of the mill deposited in Janata Bank while taking the loan of the mill. Due to non-payment of installments and interest on loans taken in the name of Golden Jute Mills, the mill became insolvent. A former official of MH Golden Jute Mill, who did not wish to be named, said the mill was established with the intention of looting. All the machinery of the mill has been removed and a new mill has been constructed. Which is named as 'Bonanza Jute mill'. After taking a loan of Tk 300 crore in the name of Golden Jute Mill, the interest has exceeded Tk 350 crore. Although the mill was profitable at the start of production, the bank was not repaid. In this regard, Janata Bank Boalmari Branch Manager Principal Officer Neeladhishad Ghosh said that the loan was granted in the name of the Golden Jute Mill from the corporate branch of Janata Bank Branch in Dhaka. We know nothing about this activity. About the mill in Boalmari branch there is no information.

Syed Abdul Mannan, manager of administration department of Golden Jutmill, said Golden Jutmill is a company of Anontex Group. Loans are taken in the name of Anontex Group. Yunus Badal of Narsingdi, Yusuf Badal owns Anontex Group. As they did not pay the money to the bank, the MS Golden Jutmill loan defaulted. He said, Jute mill is constantly losing money. He claims that neither mill is currently profitable. The mill may not have been able to pay the bank due to losses. Abdul Mannan, denying the opening of the golden jute mill machinery and installing it in the bonanza mill, said that it is our wealth. It is not a government resource.

On the spot search of MS Golden Jute Mill, which is up for bankruptcy auction, it is seen that all the officers and employees of the mill are now sitting next to the newly established 'Bonanza' jute mill. At that time, when I spoke to the Executive Director (ED) of Jute mill Md Mizanur Rahman, he said, "We all used to work in Golden Jute mill." We quit the job as the mill defaulted. Mohsin Hossain Guddu, director of MS Golden Jute mill and current Managing Director (MD) of Bonanza Jute mill, tried to speak to Guddu several times but he did not answer the call.
