The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been awarding the companies with the highest VAT every year to encourage them to pay the highest value-added tax (VAT).
In continuation of this, several organizations including 'Sayeman Beach Resort' of Cox's Bazar nominated for the award as the highest VAT payer in the fiscal year 2021-22 in the VAT Day and VAT Week 2023 seminars and awards ceremony. Sayeman Beach Resort won this award for the third time.
The guests presented this honor to the managing director of Sayeman Beach Resort, Mahbub Rahman Ruhel, at a function organized by the VAT Commissionerate Chittagong at the Radisson Blur Hall in Chittagong yesterday. Member of Revenue Board and President of Excise VAT Appellate Tribunal Dr. SM Humayan Kabir attended as chief guest in the event.
Commissioner of Excise and VAT Commissioner's Office Syed Mushfiqur Rahman presided over the event and also present were Director General of Excise VAT Academy Suresh Chandra Biswas, Commissioner of Tax Zone-1 Moazzem Hossain, President of The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Omar Hajjaz and Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Md. Khalilur Rahman.
Founded in 1964, Sayeman Beach Resort, a pioneer in the tourism industry of Cox's Bazar, has been recognized by NBR as the highest VAT payer in the past. Mahbub Rahman Ruhel, managing director of Sayeman Beach Resort, said that the old Sayeman, which is enmeshed with the memory of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is embarking on a new journey in the New Year. Newly, the company will join the Sayeman Heritage tourism sector in the first week of January.
Note that 138 organizations across the country have been nominated for the award as the highest VAT payers in the fiscal year 2021-22. Among them, only Sayeman Beach Resort has been nominated from Cox's Bazar.
