Two appointed for Motiur replacements

#Abu Yusuf in Sonali

#Suresh Chandra Biswas in NBR

Two officials replaced Motiur in NBR and Sonali Bank. They are the Additional Secretary of the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance, Mohammad Abu Yusuf. The government has appointed him as the director of Sonali Bank for three years. Abu Yusuf was given this appointment by the government yesterday after Matiur Rahman was removed. On the other hand, BCS (Customs and Excise) cadre officer Suresh Chandra Biswas has been replaced as the President of Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal of National Board of Revenue. He will perform this duty as an additional.

NBR officer Matiur Rahman has been removed from the board of directors of state-owned Sonali Bank and the President of Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal of the National Board of Revenue in the goat incident on June 23. After that incident, the court banned Matiur Rahman, his wife and son from leaving the country. Although there are strong rumors that he has already left the country.

Matiur Rahman was accused of corruption four times in the last two years during his 31-year career. But each time he escaped those charges with the help of an unknown hand. However, ACC officials said that those allegations were related to various institutional irregularities and corruption. Lately, Motiur has been accused of acquiring a large amount of disproportionate assets through bribery and corruption. ACC has also started a fresh inquiry against him regarding these allegations.

Earlier, during the last Eid-ul-Adha, Motiur Rahman's son Mushfiqur Rahman bought a goat for Tk 15 lakh from Sadiq Agro in Mohammadpur of the capital and also bought cows for Tk 70 lakh from various farms in Dhaka. Moreover, in the name of NBR officer Matiur Rahman's children, expensive brand cars, watches, luxury living in luxurious houses, huge properties in different areas of the country including Dhaka, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Narsingdi, Barisal, etc were found in the family members name. In addition, the information of the ownership of dozens of companies and the investment of billions of taka in the stock market is also emerging.
