After the regime change, some of the media were attacked and vandalized by miscreants. We see many rumors and misinformation surrounding the incidents. Although the media's activity was not free by the government pressure, most of the journalists were not involved with the house policy. Only a few journalists changed their fortune by hiding the corruption of the government. People marked them and took revenge on the channel’s journalists who worked outdoors in a clash moment although they were innocent.
Some miscreants make horrible situations and threats for vandalism-specific houses and by this take money to ensure not vandalism in the future. As there is an unstable circumstance in the country, the owners of media houses are afraid.
Yesterday, an unknown group entered the Daily Post office as the Daily Post editor and the Amar Sangbad editor is the same person. A little strife between journalists and editor happen there for the issue of the sacking job of two journalists yesterday. The unwanted group wanted to vandalize and took the CC TV DVR machine, Akash Dish TV box from the Daily Post office. They forcefully locked the office and created obstacles to send file to the printing office through internet.
As there was no problem in the Daily Post office yesterday, the journalists were working on the last hour at 9.55pm about editing, correction and the final touch. We were tension free because Dainik Amar Sangbad office internal matter was not our concern. But suddenly a group of people stop our work and forcefully out from our office whereas our newspaper was not ready to print still then.
The Daily post is the only English newspaper in the country that makes 50-55 unique news everyday form all level of districts. So the Daily Post has enough readers already in countryside. For this bad incident, no district gets newspaper today. When we finished the last part of work and send the file to the printing press, it already 12.05am. Our total circulation was ready to deliver all over the country but we missed the currier time line. So our printed newspaper copies are wasted today. There is a huge economic loss here.
Besides, many media published one-sided news, they said our editor is arrested by Bangladesh army. But our editor was called to the army to protect the vandalism on the Dainik Amar Sangbad and went with them to thana for safety. But the media focus his arrest and spread this all over the country that the readers and correspondents were anxious by read the news all the night. Civil society thought, it is intervention on media and two of the dailies not publish from today.
This type of intervention in working place is the attack on the journalism whereas the new government committed to ensure the freedom of journalism.
