Cold patients increase in Naogaon

North wind has started blowing in Naogaon. Although it is sunny during the day, the temperature drops at night. As a result, it gets quite cold. During this period of seasonal change, various types of winter diseases including respiratory system infections naturally increase. As a result, the number of patients in the district hospitals has been increasing for the past few days.

Children and adults are suffering from various diseases including fever, cough, cold, pneumonia and diarrhea. As the number of patients in the hospital increases during the week, many are forced to take treatment on the floor due to shortage of beds. Patients are suffering from saline crisis. According to hospital sources, Naogaon General Hospital is a 250-bed hospital, but it has manpower and government allocation of 100 beds. Currently, the hospital has 230 patients admitted. On the fifth floor of the hospital, the number of beds in the children's ward is 12, but there 50 people are admitted. 66 people are receiving treatment against 26 beds in medicine (female) ward on sixth floor and 64 people in 25 beds in male ward on seventh floor. Additional beds have been arranged by the hospital. Still, many are taking treatment on the floor as the beds are not made. Doctors and nurses are struggling to provide services due to the sudden increase in the number of patients in the hospital. 15-20 new patients are being admitted every day. Apart from this, 100-150 patients are receiving treatment for winter-related diseases outdoors every day.

Doctor Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury, Superintendent of Naogaon 250-bed General Hospital said that the number of patients in the hospital is slightly increasing compared to normal due to winter. There is some shortage of saline, even if patients are provided with other drugs. It is advised to wear warm winter clothes and not to eat cold food. He said that medicine will arrive soon from Bogra.
