Breeder seed distribution program of Boro 2024-25 season was inaugurated at Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) yesterday.
On this occasion, Dr Mohammad Khalekuzzaman, Director General of BRRI, inaugurated the seed distribution program as the chief guest in the event organized by BRRI's Cultivar and Seed Division (GRS). Director (Administration and General Care) Dr Md Abdul Latif was present as a special guest. Dr Partha Sarthi Biswas, Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Cabbage and Seed Department presided over the event. At this time, Dr Mir Sharaf Uddin Ahmed, the Chief Scientific Officer of Cabbage Resources and Seeds Department, along with the scientists of the department were present. Senior scientific officer Dr Ibn Syed Md Harunur Rashid conducted the program.
The seed distribution program will continue till 10 November 2024. 136 tonnes of breeder seeds will be distributed among a total of 649 seed dealers including Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC). Out of this, 26 tonnes have been given to BADC. From these seeds they will produce foundation seed in the coming Boro season.
