15 members of Hill district council took charge

Chairman Thanjama Lusai has taken charge of the restructured Bandarban Hills District Council under the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. At the same time, the newly formed 15 members of the Parishad formally took charge.

The newly formed 15 members took responsibility in the Zilla Parishad meeting room under the chairmanship of Masum Billah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Parishad at yesterday morning.

According to the separate law enacted in 1989 in the Bandarban Hill District Council, this council currently has 7 tribal men and 3 women, 3 Bengalis and 1 female member from different upazilas. Later those members were welcomed by flowers.

Important members from different areas of Bandarban district have taken responsibility in the newly formed 15-member committee. Among them are – Rajumoy Tchangya, May May Nu Marma, Advocate Ubathowai Marma, Umong Ching Marma, Khamlai Mro, Mong Ae Ching Chak, Sanai Pru Tripura, Laljar Lom Bom, Nafrang Khumi, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Nashir Uddin, Mohammad Abul Kalam, Advocate Madhavi Marma and Khursida Ishaq.

The newly appointed chairman Thanjama Lusai said, "There is no alternative to harmony. Let the hill district be a district of communal and religious harmony. Regardless of caste, religion, caste, we will establish harmony without discrimination.

He said that the main aim is to create jobs for those who are educated and unemployed in the hilly areas. Therefore, he wished everyone's cooperation in the development of the hill and said that he will work to create an atmosphere of trust in this council.

It should be noted that the new council was formed in a notification of the The Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs on November 7.
