32 kg catla fish caught in Padma

A fisherman named Gobinda Halder caught a 32 kg catla fish in the Padma at Harirampur in Manikganj. As there were no buyers, four people bought the fish for Tk 32,000 at Andharmanik wholesale market on the banks of the Padma in Harirampur upazila.

Wholesaler Hridoy Rajbangshi and fish traders said that a fisherman named Gobinda Halder of Ramkrishnapur village in Ramkrishnapur union of the upazila brought a 32 kg catla fish to the market yesterday morning. Later, fish traders Tapan Rajbangshi, Nipen Rajbangshi and Sumon Rajbangshi Radhu bought it jointly. They bought the fish for Tk 32,000 per kg.

Fish trader Nripen Rajbangshi said the fish was caught in the net of Gobinda Halder in the Padma on Friday midnight. Later when the catla fish came to the store, we bought four of us together. Three parts of us have been taken by two fish traders, one stockist and one part by Alim, a resident of Jatrapur village and a businessman of Dhaka.

Harirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahriar Rahman said fishermen often catch big ayir, pangas and boal fishes in the Padma river.
