The bodies of three missing fishermen were found washed ashore and 70 more fishermen are still missing after eight trawlers sank in Bay due to the adverse weather in Cox’s Bazar for the last few days. According to the police, three bodies were recovered from Najirartek, Pechar Dwip and Kolatoli coasts and two of the deceased were identified as Nurul Amin, 40, from Shekherkil area in Bashkhali upazila of Chattogram district and Mohammad Jalal, 37, from Charamba area in the Lohagara upazila of the same district.
However, the identity of another deceased could not be known immediately. The bodies have been kept Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue, he added. Cox's Bazar Fishing Boat Owners' Association general secretary Delwar Hossain said that the trawlers carrying the fishermen capsized in the Bay and three bodies have washed ashore.
He said some fishermen had swum to the coast while 70 are still missing. Meanwhile, the local meteorological office said till Saturday morning 210MM rainfall has been recorded. Though the rainfall has decreased on yesterday, at least 200 villages in Cox's Bazar Sadar and six other upazilas are still under water.
