Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized illegal teak wood from Kaptai Lake in Rangamati. The amount of wood is about 1,074 cubic feet. Whose market value is about Tk 21 lakh 88 thousand 537.
The teak wood was recovered from the Kaptai Lake of Karnaphuli estuary in the check post area of Barkal upazila. This information was given by BGB yesterday afternoon.
According to BGB sources, on the basis of secret information, the BGB received information that Teak wood was smuggled floating in the Kaptai Lake of Karnaphuli Estuary in the border check post area of Barkal upazila of Rangamati. At that time, a patrol team of BGB led by Barkal Thegamukh BOP Commander Nayeb Subedar Md Jilash Uddin launched the operation. Sensing the presence of BGB, the smugglers fled, but the BGB managed to recover the wood.
Rangamati BGB Lieutenant Colonel Mir Hasan Shahriar Mahmud, commander of 12 Battalion, said the BGB's drive against terrorism and smugglers will continue.
