Commodity market unstable after budget

Daily commodities which had to be bought at extra cost before the budget are now being sold at higher prices. Demands of the buyers, the daily commodity market has started to rise since the day of the budget announcement. On Saturday (June 8) in Tangail's Nagarpur Sadar raw material market, it can be seen that the day after the announcement of the budget, the daily commodity market has become more unstable than before.

The prices of onion and ginger, which have spread heat recently, are still high. Onion is being sold at Tk 80 per kg and ginger at Tk 280 per kg in the market, which was sold at Tk 70 and ginger at Tk 250 per kg before the budget was announced.

Also, the prices have increased, green chillies are being sold at Tk 150 to Tk 160 per kg and potatoes are being sold at Tk 60 to Tk 70 per kg. Buyers have to pay 60 to Tk 80 per kg of vegetables according to standards. Tomato Tk 100 to tk120 per kg in the market, brinjal Tk 50 to 60, potal tk 50 to Tk 60, cucumber Tk 40 to Tk 50, dhandul Tk 60, bitter gourd Tk 50 to Tk 60, gourd Tk 40 to Tk 50, papaya Tk50 to Tk 60, kachur Mukhi is being sold at Tk 100, Kachur Lata Tk 80, Kankrol Tk 60, Cauliflower Tk 100 to Tk 120.

Apart from this, gourd is being sold at Tk 60 to Tk 70 per piece depending on the size. Meanwhile, sugar is being sold at Tk 125 to Tk 130 per kg in the market.

When asked how the prices of daily commodities have been affected in the market after the announcement of the budget, Jony, a shopkeeper at the Nagarpur Sadar raw market, said that the prices have increased before the increase. Now the price is increasing again. It is feared that the prices will increase in more stages with Eid ahead.

The sellers say that sugar is not available at the fixed price as the price is high in the wholesale market. The price of eggs is as high as ever. Hali Farm's chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 50, depending on the quality; a dozen eggs are being sold at Tk145 to Tk 150 taka. Golden chicken is being sold at Tk 290 to Tk 300.

The price of beef remains unchanged. Beef is being sold at Tk 750 to Tk 800 per kg. And per kg of beef is being sold at Tk 900 to Tk 1,000. Going to the fish market, it can be seen that depending on the size, horn fish is being sold at Tk 400 to Tk 500, Tengra Tk 500 to Tk 550, Pangash Tk 180 to Tk 200, Silver Carp Tk 170 to Tk 200, Tilapia Tk 180 to Tk 220, Rui Tk 280 to Tk 350 per kg.

The market price is jumping higher for every possible daily product after the announcement of the budget like the every previous year.
