Consumer Protection fined two companies

A fine of Tk 30,000 has been collected from the owners of two business establishments for the crime of not hanging the price list, selling and storing expired goods in the operation of the mobile court of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection. The operation was carried out in the large market area of ​​Meherpur city yesterday.

Meherpur District National Directorate of Consumer Protection, led by Sajal Ahmed, led the raid on Meherpur city's big market for manufacturing food products in unhygienic and dirty environment, not displaying the price list of sweets properly, not following the packaging rules properly, using BSTI's logo on the products without BSTI's license. M/s Josna Bakery was fined Tk 20,000 under section 43 and 44 of Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.

Also, M/s Asif Fruit Bhandar was fined Tk 10,000 under Sections 38 and 51 for storing and selling expired chocolates in the refrigerator, selling products without expiry date and not displaying the price list of fruits despite being previously warned. Awareness leaflets were distributed to the present traders and public warning them about this. District Agricultural Marketing Officer Md Mominul Haque, Sadar Upazila Sanitary Inspector Tariqul Islam and a team of Meherpur District Police operated the inspection.
