A seminar on informing and implementing the Consumer Rights Act 2009 was held in Jhalakathi yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman was the chief guest at the seminar organized by the District Office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kawsar Hossain presided over the seminar while Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Imran spoke as special guest.
Shafia Sultana, District Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, presented a multimedia presentation on various sections of the Consumer Rights Act 2009 and people's duties.
Among others, President of Consumer Association of Bangladesh Jhalakathi District Unit Ilias Sikder Farhad, Vice President and Press Club General Secretary Advocate Akkas Sikder, Chamber of Commerce Director Jayanta Kumar Saha, Advocate Sakina Alam Liza, Poet Muha Al-Amin Baklai and Press Club President Kazi Khalilur Rahman spoke on the occasion. A total of 60 students from different walks of life took part in the seminar.
Speaking as the chief guest, the DC said that the people of our society have less idea about consumer rights. So people have to acquire knowledge about consumer rights laws.
