Besides, according to the information stored in the lab of three private clinics of the upazila, 52 dengue patients have been identified in the last 18 days of this month. Among them, 20 people have been identified in Nova Aid Clinic, 27 people in Paulbi Clinic and 5 people in Kapotakshi Clinic. In July and August, the number of patients identified in three clinics was 27. Meanwhile, 2 people died due to dengue fever in the upazila. They were Beauty Begum (35). She developed fever and was admitted to Chougacha Government Hospital. Her condition deteriorated further and she died on the way to Dhaka from there. Apart from this, another person named Abdul Hannan (65) died in the upazila on May 10.

A large number of patients who come to the hospital for treatment are febrile. Only critical patients are admitted to hospital. Besides, many dengue infected patients were taken to different hospitals and clinics including Jashore Sadar, so the actual number of patients is not known, they said. Moreover, as there is no separate ward, dengue patients are kept with general patients. A week's rain water has accumulated around the hospital. A lot of mosquito larvae were seen in these waters. At this time, the patients who came for treatment commented that the hospital itself is like a hotbed of dengue disease.

The cleaners said that the hospital authorities could not find any solution despite several attempts to remove the water. On October 15, the Directorate General of Health Services said that this year, 1,108 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. With this, 44 thousand 764 people have been admitted to hospital due to dengue this year.

Meanwhile, the drug dealers of the upazila said that there are more buyers of drugs like Napa, Paracetamol, H-plus in pharmacies. Suraiya, the resident medical officer at the Upazila Government Hospital, said that out-patients with fever are reluctant to undergo dengue tests. If the number of tests increases, the number of patients will increase.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Lutfunnahar Lucky said that in other years, infected patients would come to Chougacha from outside. This time the number of locally affected is more. Only 4 people from Dhaka came to Chougacha after being infected. Local outbreaks of dengue fever are a concern. However, the situation is still under control.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Smita Saha said that the source of breeding of Aedes larvae should be stopped by creating public awareness. Mikeing has been done in every municipal area and union for awareness.
