Farmers disoriented by insect attack on paddy

Farmers are disoriented due to current-bug attack on Aman paddy in Chougacha of Jashore. Thousands of farmers of the upazila have been deprived of sleep by the current insect.

Aman rice has been attacked by this insect towards the end of this season. Farmers of upazila municipality and 11 unions are in trouble due to the spread of food in a short time. They do not understand how to control this pest. The farmers called upon the agriculture department to take quick measures to prevent the disaster.

Jahangir Alam, a rice farmer of Swarupdah village of the upazila, said that 16 satak of one acre of 33 satak paddy land has been completely destroyed. Abdul Gafur, Abdur Razzak, farmer of Lashkarpur village of Chougacha Sadar Union, said that even after spraying 3 times, Aman paddy was not saved from the attack of this insect. Such a problem happened in the last Amon season as well, but the agriculture department did not take any action in this regard, said the farmer.

Salim Biswas and Anarul Islam of Gobindpur village of Pashapol union of the upazila said that most of the rice of my 36 Satak land has been destroyed due to the attack of the current insect. Currant insect attack has forced the crop to be harvested early. Although the price of paddy is satisfactory, thousands of farmers in the upazila are in trouble as the yield is not as expected.

Agriculture officer of Chougacha upazila, agriculturist Musabbir Hussain said, we visited all areas of the upazila and made the farmers aware of the attack of insects on rice, and gave advice on increasing the yield with leaflets.
