Four people died in road accident across country

Four people have been died in road accident in three districts of the country at yesterday. One is from Naogaon, one from Brahmanbaria, two people from Cumilla area. The details are given below through our correspondents:-

 

Naogaon:

 

A newly married groom was died in a road accident at Atrai upazila in Naogaon district on yesterday morning. The accident took place at around 10:00am at Gondogohali village on the Atrai-Bandaikhara road in the upazila. The deceased was identified as Sazedur Rahman, 24, son of Azadul Pramanik, a resident of Nandannali village in the upazila. Eyewitnesses said a post-weeding program was ongoing at Sazedur's home on Saturday. Sazedur and his brother-in-law, Mishon, were returning home on a motorcycle from Atrai market after buying yogurt and various sweets.

When they arrived in the area, they fell from the motorcycle while giving way to a van, leaving both of them critically injured. They were rescued and taken to Atrai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Sazedur dead. Mishon was later transferred to Naogaon Medical College for better treatment after giving initial treatment in the health complex.  Earlier, Sajedur got married on Friday morning.  Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Atrai Police Station, said, "Police have been sent to the scene following the incident. Legal procedures are underway in this regard."

 

Brahmanbaria:

 

A Chhatra Dal leader named Taiyan Ahmed Fahad was killed in a motorcycle accident in Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar. Three others were injured. The incident took place in Brahmanhata area of ​​Radhika Nabinagar road yesterday afternoon. The deceased Fahad is the son of Humayun Kabir of Bancharampur upazila of district. He is a member of the Convening Committee of Upazila Chhatra Dal. Liton Sarkar, former member secretary of Upazila Chhatra Dal, and two others were injured in this incident. It is reported that four people including two Chhatra Dal leaders were coming to Brahmanbaria on two motorcycles to participate in party activities.

On the way, when they reached Brahmanhata area, they collided with a reckless auto-rickshaw and got seriously injured. Later, when the injured were rescued and brought to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, the duty doctor declared Taiyan Ahmed Fahad dead. The remaining three have been treated at Sadar Hospital. Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving information. The matter is under investigation. Legal action will be taken as per complaints.

 

Cumilla

 

A child and his grandmother were killed when a bus ran over them at the Dhaka-Chittagong highway crossing in Cumilla's Burichong upazila. The accident took place at Kalakachua in Burichong on the highway at around 1 pm yesterday. The deceased are - Razia Begum, wife of Arab Rahman of Rachia area of ​​Adarsh ​​Sadar Upazila of the district and her five-year-old grandson Ismail Hossain.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mainamati Highway Police Station Iqbal Bahar Majumder said that the grandson was crossing the road holding the grandmother's hand after getting down from the Maruti car in the Kalakachua area of ​​the highway. At that time, two of them were killed on the spot when a high-speed Dhaka-bound Asia Line bus ran over them. He also said that the highway police recovered the body and brought it to the police station. The bodies of the two will be handed over to their relatives after the legal process.
