The government inaugurated the distribution of seeds and fertilisers free of cost among small and marginal farmers under incentives and programmes aimed at increasing production of different crops during the Rabi season in Ranisankail upazila of Thakurgaon.
Upazila Agriculture Office organized the distribution program at the Upazila Parishad premises yesterday morning.
Presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Shahidul Islam, the function was addressed by Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Rajab Ali, BNP Joint Secretary Muniruzzaman Moni, Project Implementation Officer Samiel Mardi, Livestock Officer Dr Rupam Chanda Mahanta, Press Club (old) President Shafiqul Islam Shilpi, Press Club President Mobarak Ali, former President Professor Anwarul Islam.
Officials, employees, beneficiary farmers and journalists of different print and electronic media were also present on the occasion.
It is to be noted that mustard, wheat, maize, winter onion, groundnut seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed free of cost among 9,650 farmers of the upazila in the current Rabi season.
