The resignation letter of Mr Abul Kalam Azad, Headmaster of Bashanti High School, Kendua, Netrakona was forcibly signed. This Upazila Nirbahi Officer Imdadul Haque Talukdar formed an investigation committee headed by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Miz Jannat and comprising Upazila Fisheries Officer and Upazila Academic Supervisor for this incident on August 22. The investigation started last Tuesday afternoon under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) Miz Jannat.
On the other hand, during the investigation, the students of the school made a strong demand to the investigation committee to keep the head teacher in his position. At one point, they got together and welcomed the headmaster by putting flowers around his neck. It is to be noted that some unruly people of the area accused Abul Kalam Azad of the headmaster of Banshatti High School of Garadoba Union of the upazila of corruption and irregularities. Following their complaints, he was forced to resign on August 20. There was mixed reaction and tension in the area over this resignation.
When asked about the resignation, Headmaster Abul Kalam Azad said that he did not sign the resignation letter voluntarily. Some rowdy people of the area and some students forced him to sign the resignation letter. He informed the matter in writing to the upazila administration on 21 August and to the District Commissioner on 22 August. Headmaster Abul Kalam Azad also said that the respect shown to me by my beloved students and local people is unforgettable. I am proud as a teacher, he said.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and head of investigation committee Miz Jannat said, in view of the incident in Bashanhati High School of upazila, on the instructions of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Imdadul Haque Talukdar, our investigation committee started investigation on Tuesday. In the investigation, we have found some unruly crowd of the area is behind forcing the resignation of the head teacher and proved to be responsible. In view of that, they realized their mistake and came to terms with the Headmaster.
