Hundreds of families Waterlogged in Maheshkhali

Many families in Maheshkhali have once again become waterlogged due to excessive rain. While fishing in the sea, many fishing boats have fallen under the influence of the wind and have not yet returned to the island, along with the fishermen on the boat are also missing. On yesterday, 24, various unions of Maheshkhali informed about the news that hundreds of families have been trapped in water due to the closure of the Swiss gate in Matarbari of Maheshkhali. Many families have lost many houses due to landslides in Kalamarchara and Hoanak Union. As the Swiss Gate is closed to the west, there are still many battaleaf garden in the water.

Many people have lost their houses due to water logging in Baramheshkhali Union, they also have the same complaint of fishing by keeping the Swiss gate closed. Many people's houses were destroyed due to heavy rains in Shaplapur union, but sweet pan barge was more damaged in Baramheshkhali and Shaplapur unions. In Maheshkhali's Kutubzom, Chhota Maheshkhali Union, municipality, many families are reported to have been waterlogged, but the extent of their damage is minimal. On the other hand, many fishing trawlers or boats have not returned to Kul yet due to the strong wind while fishing in the sea.      

Many fishermen are also missing. Baramheshkhali Jagira Ghonar Arif's fishing boat has sunk, some fishermen have been rescued but 9 fishermen are still missing. It is reported that no trace of the boat of Maheshkhali municipality soldier Nurul Islam has been found yet. This has caused tears in the fishermen village of Maheshkhali's Qutubjom Union. They are running in all directions in search of their relatives. When Maheshkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Miki Marma was contacted, he said that he did not know how many fishermen were missing or how many boats were sinking in Maheshkhali, but he was investigating the matter. On the other hand, those who have sunk people's houses to catch fish while keeping the Swiss gate closed, said that they will be brought to justice.
