Indian clothes seized in army raid

Members of 15 Field Regiment Artillery Matiranga Army Zone recovered 153 pieces of Indian cloth illegally brought through the Matiranga Indian border in Khagrachhari district on Sunday night. The market value of these clothes is approximately is Tk 1 lakh 75 thousand 50.

On the basis of intelligence, a team of police conducted a drive in Chowdhuryghat area of Ward No. 5 of Matiranga Municipality around 4:30 am and seized the illegal Indian clothes.

According to Matiranga Zone Army sources, acting on a tip-off, a team led by Warrant Officer TA Mohammad Harun conducted the drive in the Wachu Ananda Bazar area of Matiranga Sadar Union illegally and took them to Khagrachhari Sadar.

Sensing their presence, the smugglers threw two sacks of clothes on the road in Chowdhuryghat area and fled with the motorcycle. Later, 27 jeans pants, 66 T-shirts, 44 shirts, 16 collar T-shirts, a total of 153 Indian clothes were seized from the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Kamrul Hasan (PSC), zone commander of Matiranga Zone, said the army has been working to prevent illegal entry of Indian goods by dodging government tax. No one will be spared in this regard.
