A man was hacked to death in public in Sultanpur Mohalla of Naogaon, police said. The murder was committed over a dispute over a piece of land next to the house. The incident took place yesterday morning.
Locals said that Nazrul had a long-standing dispute with his neighbor Mannan over the boundary of a piece of land next to the house. Correspondent morning, Mannan cut down some mango trees planted by Nazrul, which led to a fight between the two families. At one stage, Mannan hacked Nazrul with a sharp knife and ran away. After the incident, locals rescued him in his injured state and took him to the hospital, where Nazrul died.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gaziur Rahman of the district police, Inspector Abdul Mannan of the Detective Branch (DB), and OC of Naogaon Sadar Police Station Noor-e Alam visited the scene. Police have taken the body of the deceased in custody and sent it to the Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gaziur Rahman said that some evidence has been collected after visiting the scene. A case will be filed with Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station in connection with the murder. He assured that legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident soon.
