Man held for allegedly killing wife

A man has confessed to killing his wife in an attempt to frame his younger brother in the murder case at Chandraganj upazila in Lakshmipur district. The murder took place in the early hours of yesterday. The victim's husband Harunur Rashid admitted to the crime under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in court, as confirmed by Chandraganj Police Station officer-in-charge Kaisar Hamid. Harun, a brick kiln foreman, was embroiled in a land dispute with his brother Hiron.

On the night of the murder, after everyone had gone to bed, Harun lured his wife Jesmin out of the house under the pretense of visiting a nearby wedding decoration. He then brutally attacked her with a machete and hacked her to death. Following the murder, Harun falsely accused his brother Hiron of killing Jesmin, leading to Hiron's initial arrest. However, after further investigation, police arrested Harun, who later confessed to committing the murder himself to frame his brother. Harun has been sent to district jail following his court confession.
