Like the rest of the country, National Fisheries Day has been observed in Rangamati. On the occasion of the day, release of fish fry in Kaptai Lake, rally, and discussion meeting and awarding of fishermen were held. Yesterday morning, a discussion meeting was held in the annex building conference room organized by the Zilla Parishad and Directorate of Fisheries. Rangamati Hills District Council Chairman Angswipru Chowdhury was the chief guest.
Chairman Angswipru Chowdhury said, Kaptai Lake is playing a unique role in increasing fish production. He said that the government is providing all kinds of support to the fishermen with the aim of meeting the nutritional needs of the people of the hilly areas, creating employment and increasing income. By this, a revolutionary change is being achieved in fish farming in the hilly areas.
At this time, Md Abdur Rahim, convenor of fisheries affairs, member of Parbatya Zilla Parishad, presided over the event. Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Khondkar Mohammad Rizaul Karim, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Md Motachem Billah, Additional Superintendent of Police DSB Shah Newaz Raju, Civil Surgeon Doctor Nuyen Khisa, District Fisheries Officer Adhir Chandra Das and members of Zilla Parishad and fishermen were present in the discussion meeting. .
Earlier, a colorful rally was taken out from Happy Junction. The rally circled the main road of the city and ended at the district council premises.
